Orders & Shipping

We dispatch orders from Monday to Friday via Royal Mail 1st class post. If your order has not arrived within 7 days of receiving a dispatch email from us please contact hello@thewaterprofessor.com to request a replacement test kit.

We can amend shipping addresses on orders up until they are dispatched, please contact hello@thewaterprofessor.com with your order number as soon as you can if this is the case.

Yes, we can produce invoices for orders. Please email hello@thewaterprofessor.com with your order number and we will get back to you with an invoice.

You will receive an email to confirm your sample has reached us when it is checked into our system - it will come from hello@thewaterprofessor.com, these emails can occasionally go to your junk folder.


Testing

We offer a comprehensive bacteria testing kit which includes various indicator parameters such as Total Viable Count and Total Coliforms, as well as bacterial contaminants which include E.coli and Enterococci.

We don't currently test for pesticides, but we do test for other agricultural contaminants such as nitrate and nitrite which are routinely used in fertilisers for crops. We are working on offering pesticide testing currently.

Yes we can, we will send you a sample bottle as normal and this can be filled from the well or spring. In some locations in the UK, arsenic is more prevalent in well water due to rocks that contain naturally occurring arsenic. If this is of particular interest, we test for arsenic in our Standard or Arsenic Water Test kits.

Yes, we can test for a range of metals in your water. Our Standard Test is the most comprehensive test we offer which includes lead and arsenic, as well as agricultural and water nutrients.


Results

We return results within 10 working days after receipt of the sample. We will send an email to you when the sample arrives with us and another email when your results are ready. Please note that these emails can occasionally be sent to your junk/spam folder.

We use the industry standard method of inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) for our tests which can detect at the parts per billion level where legal limits typically sit. Using these techniques our tests are much more sensitive than using test strips.

When your results are ready you will receive an email containing a link and login details. Using these login details you will be able to access your own results on our site. If you require a PDF version of your results please contact hello@thewaterprofessor.com with your order number.

We give all tested analytes a normal, elevated, or high rating based on legal limits set by the government and health bodies. Where there are no legal limits provided, we base these categories on the average readings in our database.
