As an independent UK water quality testing company, we help homeowners across the UK test water quality at home. We can identify harmful contaminants typically found in tap water to help avoid drinking and washing with poor quality water.
Whether you’re concerned about the damaging effects of showering in hard water, or the poor quality of your tap water, our team is here to help. Unlike most companies, we can provide independent laboratory test results that are not designed to promote products or convince you to buy water filters. We simply want to empower you when it comes to testing UK water quality.

Test for your health

Discovering your health risk begins with understanding the contaminants present in your drinking water and their potential impact on your well-being. By studying the composition of your water with a water testing kit, you gain valuable insights into specific elements and compounds that could pose a health risk. Whether it’s heavy metals, agricultural run-off, or other common contaminants, a comprehensive water quality test kit can help you uncover problems with your water quality and put your mind at rest.

We use state-of-the-art calibrated laboratory equipment to ensure the highest quality and accuracy of your results (we don't use water test strips to perform our analysis). A drinking water test kit from us will give you peace of mind through high sensitivity data accurate down to the lowest legal drinking water limits.

Check your pipes

The next step is to consider the condition of your pipes, where it’s important to spot corroded or out of date materials. Detecting heavy metals is an indicator that corrective action must be taken – lead, for example, is highly toxic, and any pipes made of it must be replaced by plastic that does not leach harmful chemicals.

Fixtures and fittings made of low-quality brass can also leach lead, (It’s sometimes added to make the brass more malleable). Another potential source is leaded solder which could have been incorrectly used on the drinking water plumbing system. Without using a water testing kit, neither of these sources would be detected. If your property was built within the last 60 years or if the plumbing had been updated, water testing is important to ensure any hidden problems are found and rectified.

Simple reporting

We know the thought of interpreting complex water testing results can be daunting. Relax, we do all the heavy lifting for you by providing your results in an easily understandable way, we score your results based on legal drinking water limits. No meaningless numbers, all your results are put in context for you. Each analyte comes with a wealth of information in our Knowledge Centre, and should you find yourself needing further guidance, our experienced water testing experts are on hand to assist you further.

Armed with this understanding, you can make informed decisions on any necessary actions without needing costly, invasive checks on your plumbing. In the Compare section, you will also see how your results compare to averages from our dataset, and some popular bottled water brands that we tested ourselves.

Problem sorted!

Finally, you can decide on corrective action or water treatment solutions following your water test. To stay as independent and as trustworthy as possible, we aren’t affiliated with any water filter or plumbing brands, but we can advise on the most appropriate next steps and the types of products to look for such as a water softener to correct water hardness or ion exchange filter to remove harmful contaminants such as heavy metals.

Navigating the vast array of water treatment options can be overwhelming, but speaking with our team can help demystify the various types of filters available, giving detail on their effectiveness in addressing specific contaminants. After a decision, we would recommend testing options to confirm that the issue is rectified. In some cases, pipe replacement is the safest way of ensuring a problem is fixed, a process through which we would provide support. Our goal is to see our customer’s water issues solved, from beginning to end.

Frequently Asked Questions

The test kit that you need will depend on the contaminants you are interested in testing for. Single element water test kits are available, up to a whole house water test kit that includes sample bottles for multiple taps in your home. Our water testing kits are appropriate for tap water, pool water, aquariums, bore holes, and streams/springs.

In most cases having a water filter is a personal choice, for example if hard water is a problem. In other cases, it can be used to reduce the amount of harmful contaminants in your drinking water. We are not affiliated with any brands, but we can give advice on which type of filter might help. This could include sediment filters to help remove larger debris like sand, a water softener to remove sodium and calcium causing high water hardness, or a reverse osmosis system to remove common contaminants such as lead or fluoride.

Our water testing kits provide much more accurate results than a test strip can. We use state-of-the-art mass spectrometry equipment which gives us unrivalled sensitivity and resolution to below the parts per billion (ppb) level. This is important in detecting harmful contaminants as the legal drinking water limits often go to the ppb range. Test strips often cannot reach the required sensitivity and can produce false positives when other analytes are high in the water sample.

After purchasing the appropriate water quality test kit for you, we will post you a kit which includes a water sample bottle and instructions. No test strips are included, we do all the analysis for you. Once your water sample has been taken, simply post it back to us in the pre-paid envelope. You will be notified when your sample reaches us, and we will begin the analysis. When it is complete, we will upload your accurate results to our reporting site which will contextualise your results and provide you more information.
