Clear, practical results

A starting point for action — not just a number on a page.

No filter sales pitch

No filter sales pitch

Our independence means the results come without a filter sales pitch.

Beyond the viewing

A beautiful kitchen is only part of the picture.

Public water quality is generally high. But a property's pipes, fittings and storage can affect the water that reaches its tap. A test helps you look beyond appearances.

Look beyond visible pipes

Lead may come from concealed supply pipes, solder or some fittings. A lead test measures the amount in your sample.

Plan your next steps

Use the findings to discuss further investigation with your surveyor or plumber, and plan any work the property needs.

Make an informed choice

Understand the water you sampled before deciding on treatment. Our independence means the results come without a filter sales pitch.

Lead Water Test

Lead Water Test

A focused check for lead at the drinking tap — particularly relevant when pipes are older, hidden, or their replacement history is unclear. You'll get a lead concentration measured in the laboratory, a result for the water from your chosen tap, and information to guide further investigation. This option does not test for bacteria, copper or nickel.

Bacteria Water Test

An additional option for homes with private supplies, relevant water storage, or concerns about water hygiene. Choose the sampling point to match the concern. It tests for specified bacteria and indicators, is useful when supply or storage needs investigation, and has separate collection and transport requirements. See the product page for the panel — this does not test for every pathogen.

A few helpful answers

Laboratory water analysis is usually a separate service. A survey may flag visible pipework concerns, but it does not provide a measurement of lead or bacteria in the water. Ask your surveyor what is included and agree any additional investigation.

Some water companies offer free lead testing to concerned customers. Check with the supplier for the property. Our independent testing is another option if you want laboratory analysis of a sample you arrange to collect.

No. A result relates to the sample, the substances tested and the collection conditions. It cannot rule out all contaminants or guarantee future water quality. A low lead result also does not prove that the property has no lead pipes.

Get permission to access the property and collect a sample. Tell us about any private supply, storage tanks or purchase deadline. Follow the specific kit instructions for sampling and transport; do not assume lead and bacteria tests use the same procedure.

Older homes may retain lead pipes, but fittings and solder can also be relevant. A modern appearance or a visible copper pipe does not establish the material of every concealed component. Choose testing around the property's history and your concerns.

Discuss the result with us, your water company and a qualified plumber as appropriate. Further sampling or a pipework investigation may be needed to identify the source. One test cannot locate a particular fitting or establish the extent or cost of replacement work.

The standard self-sampling service is intended for personal information, not official or legal certification. If you need professionally collected samples or results for a formal purpose, contact us before ordering to discuss the requirements.

Your next home, better understood. Add a little more knowledge to a big decision.
